Edwin "Ed" Chauvin, Jr. age 85 of McComb, MS, died Saturday, June 10, 2017 at his residence.
Ed was born in New Orleans, LA on May 12, 1932 and was reared there until he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving in Japan and South Korea during the Korean "Police Action". He was then honorably discharged and secured an appointment as a Border Patrol Inspector, entering on duty at the Academy in El Paso in the 65th Session on May 21, 1956.

Edwin "Ed" Chauvin, Jr. age 85 of McComb, MS, died Saturday, June 10, 2017 at his residence.
Ed was born in New Orleans, LA on May 12, 1932 and was reared there until he enlisted in the US Air Force, serving in Japan and South Korea during the Korean "Police Action". He was then honorably discharged and secured an appointment as a Border Patrol Inspector, entering on duty at the Academy in El Paso in the 65th Session on May 21, 1956.
Ed served at El Paso, TX and Ft. Pierce, FL as Patrol Agent and at Eagle Pass, TX as Supervisory Border Patrol agent. He transferred to Criminal Investigator in New Orleans, and was promoted to Deputy Regional Chief in San Pedro, CA and to Assistant Regional Commissioner for Security in Richmond, VA. He was transferred to Assistant Regional Commissioner for Investigations in Dallas, TX, then To Deputy District Director in New Orleans, where he became the District Director in 1978.
Ed retired on January 2, 1984 but was determined to remain active as long as possible. A week after retirement, he began a six-month employment as the Director of Security at the 1984 World's Fair. He was reemployed by INS in 1987 to run the Legalization office in New Orleans, and finished his law enforcement career as the Chief of the Jefferson Parish DA's Worthless Check Section for eight years.
Ed was preceded in death in death by his wife, Cherry Charline Breland Chauvin; sons, Brian Lee Chauvin, and Glenn Arthur Chauvin; and parents, Edwin Chauvin, Sr. and Ruth Rita Lally Chauvin. He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Lynn Chauvin Muth; two sons, Edwin Chauvin, III, and Duane Wilbur Chauvin; two sisters, Jeanne Rose Chauvin Campbell, and Ruth Rita Chauvin Bersuder; two brothers, Allen Walter Chauvin, and Raymond Joseph Chauvin; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, June 16, 2017 at 1:00pm at Colonial Funeral Home, 323 Second St. in Columbia, MS where friends may visit with family from 12:00pm until service time. Interment will follow at Foxworth Cemetery.
